SPANISH EXTENSION · 12 WEEKS
Learn to interpret Spanish, not just decode it.
The next step after Foundations — where patterns stop working in isolation, and meaning starts to appear in how they relate to each other.
Mondays · 6:00pm · Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge
12 weeks to make the Spanish you already know work together.
New cohorts begin in October at the Birchcliffe Centre.
WHAT IS SPANISH EXTENSION?
The second stage of Spanish Decoded.
Foundations helps you discover that Spanish is a system you can understand. Extension goes further: it teaches you to interpret that system — to notice how the patterns you already know connect to each other, and to use that understanding to work out what you don't know yet.
Patterns don't work in isolation. Meaning appears when you learn to relate them to each other.
That's the idea behind every session of Extension. It isn't about covering more grammar in less time — it's about taking everything you already know from Foundations and starting to see how it fits together into one working system.
WHY EXTENSION IS DIFFERENT
Depth, not speed.
Depth over speed
Extension isn't about fitting in more content — it's about understanding what you already know more deeply.
Relationships before rules
You'll notice how patterns connect to each other before you ever memorise a new rule.
Interpretation over translation
You'll rely less on translating word-for-word, and more on reading the situation and the speaker's intention.
Autonomy over dependency
Every session builds a strategy you can reuse on your own — not just an answer for that day's exercise.
THE 12-WEEK JOURNEY
Six blocks, each with a question of its own.
Each two-week block introduces an idea, then gives you time to use, connect or extend it — never just moving on to the next topic.
RECONNECT
Weeks 1–2
How do we describe and situate what happens?
You reactivate what you already know from Foundations and start looking at it from a new angle.
CONNECT
Weeks 3–4
How do people, actions, causes and purposes relate to each other?
You discover how to connect the pieces of a sentence you've been using in isolation until now.
INTERPRET
Weeks 5–6
How does meaning change with the speaker's attitude to the information?
The same fact can be certain, doubted, hoped for or suggested — and Spanish shows you which.
INTEGRATE
Weeks 7–8
How do we connect ideas to build a message?
You start combining several relationships at once, and making them more precise.
TRANSFER
Weeks 9–10
How does context shape what we understand and say?
No new grammar — just the system you've built, tested in less predictable situations.
AUTONOMY
Weeks 11–12
Can I keep decoding without being told what to look for?
The course closes by handing the decoding process fully over to you.

Who this is for
Spanish Extension continues directly from Foundations. If you've completed Foundations, you're ready. If you're coming from elsewhere with some existing Spanish, get in touch — a short chat is all it takes to check the course is the right fit before you book.
EXTENSION COURSE FEE
Two ways to pay.
Paying in full secures the lower price. Spreading the cost over the three months of the course carries a small premium.
Feedback Cohort place
For learners who commit to sharing feedback after every session
£225 paid in full
or £78/month × 3 (£234 total)
A limited number of places are available each cohort at this rate — your feedback helps shape future cohorts and improve the course. Get in touch to check availability.
Standard place
Full course, no feedback commitment
£300 paid in full
or £104/month × 3 (£312 total)
Everything the course includes, at the standard rate. Places are limited to keep the group small and focused.

FAQ
Common questions.
Do I need to have completed Foundations?
Yes, or an equivalent level. If you haven't done Foundations with us, get in touch for a short chat to check Extension is the right starting point.
Is there homework?
There are no drills or memorisation exercises, and homework is optional. I’ll share resources after each session, and I strongly recommend spending some time with them to revisit, practise and consolidate what we’ve worked on in class. For those on the Feedback Cohort place, feedback after each session is part of the course and helps me continue to improve it.
What if I miss a session?
You’ll receive a short summary and the resources from the session, so you can stay oriented and revisit what we’ve worked on.
Is the teaching style the same as Foundations?
Yes — discovery before explanation, meaning before correctness. Extension applies the same method to more complex, connected ideas.
Will I be fluent by the end?
Fluency isn't the goal of any single course in this pathway. By the end of Extension, you'll interpret Spanish with far more independence, and know how to keep building from there.
WHO'S BEHIND SPANISH EXTENSION?
Alixe.
I'm Alixe, a Spanish teacher, designer based in Hebden Bridge, and the person behind every stage of Spanish Decoded.
I built Extension for exactly the moment Foundations graduates reach — where the individual pieces of Spanish start needing to talk to each other. My approach stays the same as it was on day one: clarity, curiosity, and no pressure to perform before you're ready.
